Join us in the second annual Miller & Rhoads Charity Christmas Tree Contest, by helping forty local charitable organizations fill the big, plate-glass display windows of the historic department store building. Each Christmas tree will be decorated by volunteers for the charities, then entered into a contest that decides which of the Christmas trees is the most glorious of all!
The winning non-profit organization will receive a $1,000 Grand Prize.
The premise of the contest is this: Forty charities in the Greater Richmond area are being sought to decorate a Christmas tree for the windows of the Miller & Rhoads building in downtown Richmond. Forty different Richmond businesses, individuals or civic clubs will be asked to sponsor a tree by covering its contest entry fee.
In the tradition of television's “Dancing with the Stars,” the winning tree will be chosen by a panel of judges and by the people of Virginia. The decision of the panel of judges will count for only a percentage of the contest's point structure; the other part of the equation will be determined by you Virginians who vote for their favorite tree online.
Look at last years Christmas Trees!
Just before Thanksgiving 2011, the windows of the historic Miller & Rhoads building will be unveiled, revealing 40 glowing and glittering Christmas trees. This is your chance to support the good work of your favorite charity.
Encourage your favorite Richmond area charity to join in the fun. Everybody wins because the decorated trees will be auctioned during the contest, creating much needed funds for each and every participating non-profit organization.
Christmas Tree Auction
Supporting the important non-profit organizations represented
in this event is an investment in the future of Virginia.
Becoming part of the movement to bring the darkened windows of
Miller & Rhoads back to life just in time for Christmas is a bonus.
The wide eyes and giggles of all the children who will gaze
into those spectacular windows this year will be simply priceless!

The display windows of the Miller & Rhoads department store were ablaze with lights and Christmas decorations.
Last year, we revived the beloved downtown tradition with twenty shimmering Christmas trees, each decorated by one of Richmond's many fine non-profit organizations. This year there will be twice as many!
