2008 Christmas in Yorktown Events

December 5,  2008, 7:30 pm - Yorktown Celebrates Christmas:  Illumination and Christmas Tree Lighting.  The holiday lights go on and the festive season begins at 6:30 pm with entertainment at the Victory Monument followed by the Procession of Lights through historic Yorktown to Riverwalk Landing.  The tree lighting ceremony, which includes holiday entertainment and a visit from Santa, begins at 7:30 pm. Saturday, December 6, 2007, 10 am to 4 pm - Yorktown Christmas Market on Main Street.  Join us for Yorktown’s third  annual Christmas Market on historic Main Street.  The market features demonstrations, musical entertainment, living history exhibits, roasted chestnuts and hot cider, arts and crafts and much more. Sponsored by York County Tourism and Events and the York County Historical Museum.  Entertainment provided courtesy of Celebrate Yorktown Committee and York County Arts Commission. 757-890-3500.  

Saturday, December 6, 2008, 7 pm - Yorktown Celebrates Christmas:  Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade.  Decorated in holiday spirit, area boaters parade the York River in competition for “Best of Show.”  Waterfront events begin at 6 pm. Enjoy hot cider and musical performances in the glow of a beach bonfire while awaiting the magnificent parade of lights. Sponsored by the Celebrate Yorktown Committee and Wormley Creek Marina.  757-890-4970.  

Sunday, December 7, 2008, 1 pm - Yorktown Celebrates Christmas:  Cookies With Santa.  Enjoy cookies with Santa in the Gallery at York Hall.  Children and parents can visit with Santa and do some holiday shopping. York Hall, 301 Main Street.  757-890-4490.  

Saturday, December 8, 2008, 9 am to 1 pm - “Yorktown Market Days at the River."  Join us for Riverwalk Landing's newest event in the heart of historic Yorktown on the banks of the York River.  Located between Buckner and Ballard Streets, the market features local produce, fresh meat and seafood, baked goods, herbs, specialty cut flowers, handmade soaps, quality art and live musical entertainment. 757-890-3500.


December 20 - Jan 4,  2009, 9 am to 5 pm – A Colonial Christmas.  Experience 18th-century holiday traditions. Hear military accounts of Christmas in a re-created Revolutionary War encampment and glimpse holiday preparations on a 1780s Virginia farm. Yorktown Victory Center.  Admission. 757-253-4838.
